May Hubbard Lupton

Mrs. May Hubbard Lupton, age 97 of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, formally of Tucson, Arizona, passed away at the home of her sister, Dorothy H. Chilton Thursday, September 21, 2006. She was born in Patrick County on April 3, 1909 to the late Albert J. Hubbard and Millie Hatcher Hubbard. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe M. Lupton; two sisters, Bertie Hubbard (infant) and Ruth Hill; and five brothers, George E. Hubbard, Murray A. Hubbard, John S. Hubbard, C. Ralph Hubbard, and C. Frank Hubbard. Mrs. Lupton graduated from Central Academy High School and in nineteen thirty-nine received her nursing certification from the Lucy Webb Hayes National Training School. She was an active member in Park Avenue Christian Church in Tucson, Arizona. Mrs. Lufton was a very caring and loving wife, aunt and friend and met the needs of many. She was proud of her Patrick Co. heritage and of her many family members.
Surviving are two sisters, Pearl H. Tilton of Fresno, California and Dorothy H. Chilton of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Dora T. Hubbard of Lynchburg, Virginia and Estelle C. Hubbard of Montgomery, Alabama; a special nephew, Joseph & wife, Carol Hubbard of Tucson, Arizona, twenty-one nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews, several great great nieces and nephews; and a step-son, Virgil Lupton of Leavenworth, Kansas.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lupton will be held Saturday, September 23, 2006 at 2:00pm at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Rev. Delmer Chilton and Rev. Rodney Luffman. Burial will follow in the Mayo Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery on Dobyns Road in Claudville, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday night from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Moody Funeral Home.
