Michael Shaun Calhoun

Michael Shaun Calhoun, age 17, of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Duke University Hospital. Shaun was born in Surry County on October 26, 1997 to Lindsay Lawson Williamson and Michael James Calhoun. He was such a precious young man who will be dearly missed by all his loving family and many, many friends. Shaun was a student at North Surry High School. Surviving are his mother and step father, Lindsay L. and Doyle Williamson; his father and step mother, Michael and Lilly Calhoun; his grandparents, Debra and Mike Shelton and Norma Lawson; his great grandparents, Opal and Dennis Draughn and Eva and Avery Hylton; sisters, Katie Calhoun and Angel Williamson; brothers, Chase Calhoun and Clinton Williamson; Aunts and Uncles, Terri and Clyde Bowman and David and Jan Lyons; and special cousins, Abby Bowman, Josh and Jessica Lyons, Julia Lyons and Dylan and Ethan Moats. Shaun was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Wayne Lawson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Steve McCreary. Burial will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at North Surry High School Gymnasium and at other times at the homes of Opal Draughn and Debra Shelton. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Brenner Children's Hospital, Duke Endowment Fund or to Carolina Donor Services. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Duke Hospital and all the nurses and doctors there, Brenner Children's Hospital, Dr. Thoppil and North Surry High School.
