Mr. Michael Lowndes King, 70, of Mount Airy lived from February 22, 1943 until November 23, 2013. He was born in Charleston, SC to the late Mary Lynn Carlson King and the late Huger Sinkler King of Greensboro. Mr. King graduated from Page High School and then Guilford College with a BA degree in History. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served as Captain in the Vietnam War. He was active with the Mount Airy Library Board, Salvation Army, and the Mount Airy Rotary Club. Mr. King served several terms on the Mount Airy City Council and was member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Marjorie and Chance Reynolds of Germantown, TN, and Dr. Mary Lynn King and Jeff Weigele of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Chancellor, Rees, and Kate Reynolds; his sister, Laurinda King de Beck of Greensboro; his brother and sisters-in-law, Richie and Patty King of Davidson, and Josie King of Wilmington; his mother-in-law, Marjorie Rees of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. King was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Rees King, and one brother Huger Sinkler King, Jr. Funeral services will be held Tuesday November 26, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Mount Airy with Rev. Bill Rountree and Mr. David Beal officiating. Interment will be held in Oakdale Cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 & Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The King family will receive friends at the Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy on Monday night from 6PM until 8PM.
