Michael "Mike" Charles Nester

Mr. Michael “Mike” Charles Nester, age 70, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday morning July 20, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mike was born in Patrick County on May 10, 1953, to the late Clarence Rudolph Nester and Gracie Marie Wilson Nester.  He retired from Sawyers Signs after 23 years of dedicated service.  Mike loved to garden and mow the yard.  Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 31 years, Sandra Ellen Arnder Nester; two sons, Brad Childress and Scotty Nester; three grandchildren, Austin Childress, Jacob Childress, and Tisha Gentry; two great-grandchildren, Sora Bowman and Asta Bowman; a special fur Baby, Mia the Boston Terrier; sisters and a brother-in-law, Linda Cockerham, and Susie and Tommy Burkhart; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Lynn Nester, and Billy and Tammy Nester; a very special sister-in-law, Pam Snow, his guardian angel; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by two brothers, Buddy Nester and Clarence “Junior” Rudolph Nester, Jr.  There are no formal services planned at this time for Mike.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
