Miss Mary Esther Vernon

Miss Mary Esther Vernon age 85 of Mt. Airy, NC. passed away Friday October 17, 2014 at Central Continuing Care in Mt. Airy. Miss Vernon was born January 18, 1929 in Carroll County, VA. to the late Wiley Garland and Mary Edith McCraw Vernon, she was retired from Spencer Corporation and was of the Baptist Faith. Surviving are one niece Mary Anne Hall of Cana, five nephews Jimmy Vernon and David Vernon both of Cana, Timmy Vernon, Gray Frye and Johnny Frye all of Mt. Airy, NC. and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Miss Vernon was preceded in death by one sister Nancy Alice Frye and by two brothers Otis Andrew Vernon and Wiley G. Vernon. Graveside services will be held Monday October 20, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the McCraw Family Cemetery with services conducted by Rev. Roland McCraw. There will be no formal visitation at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200 Mt. Airy, NC. 27030.
