Miss Virginia Lucille Worrell

Miss Virginia Lucille Worrell, age 91 of Mt. Airy, passed away, Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Woltz Hospice Home. Miss Worrell was born in Surry County on February 10, 1921 to the late Amos and Ella Jarrell Worrell. She retired from Cross Creek Apparel and Lamm's Drug and later worked with the Gertrude Smith Foundation and the Mount Airy Visitors Center. Surviving is a sister and brother-in-law, Vera Mae and Robert Hemrick of Mt. Airy; a niece, Rhonda Hill and husband Eric; nephews, Dart Hemrick and wife Ginger and Dwayne Hemrick; great nieces and nephews, Sarah Hemrick, Watson Hemrick, Ella Hill and Griffin Hill. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Oakdale Cemetery by Rev. Tony Hayworth. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home from 9:30 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home at 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27030. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Woltz Hospice Home for the exceptional care given to Miss Worrell during her stay there.
