Mr. Alvis Spencer "Dickie" Joyce

Mr. Alvis Spencer “Dickie” Joyce, age 91 of Critz, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born in Patrick County on May 21, 1924 to the late Richard Green Joyce and Lucy Jane Spencer Joyce. In addition to his parents, Mr. Joyce was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Susan Joyce; three sisters, Maggie Davis, Lena Gregory and Mildred Aliff; and two brothers, Edgar Joyce and Russell Joyce. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II, and had been a farmer in Critz for most of his life

Mr. Joyce is survived by his wife, Vivian Bowman Joyce of the home; and his son, Dr. Richard Joyce of Scottsville, Virginia.
Funeral services for Mr. Joyce will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. Burial will follow in the Bowman Family Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12:00 noon until time of the service at the funeral home.
