Mr. Arthur Russell Edwards

Mr. Arthur Russell Edwards, age 83, of Pilot Mountain, NC went to be with his Savior, Tuesday, January 21, 2014. Mr. Edwards was born January 24, 1930 in Wilkes County to the late John and Bessie Edwards. Mr. Edwards was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War; he was a retired Manufacturing Engineer with Sara Lee Corporation; and was currently a member of Beulahland Baptist Church. Mr. Edwards served the majority of his adult life in Christian ministry - he was a faithful member at Marshall Baptist Church for 50 years serving as a teacher, Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and working with the Youth. He also taught Sunday School at Knollwood Nursing Home and volunteered at Prodigals Community. Surviving are his wife Mrs. Genevieve Parks Edwards of the home, two daughters and spouses, Sharon (Joey) Dawson of Pilot Mountain, Ginger (David) Caston of Kernersville, a daughter-in-law Kimberly P. Edwards of King, five grandchildren and spouses Zach (Casie) Dawson of Pinnacle, Jessica Dawson of Pilot Mountain, Chase Salmons of Tobaccoville, Blake Salmons of Kernersville, Jordan (Phillip) Yates of Rural Hall, two sisters Mildred Anthony of Elkin and Wilma Gustafson of Roaring River, two sisters-in law Betty Edwards and Joy Edwards of Roaring River, and one brother Roger (Claire) Edwards of Roaring River. In addition to his parents Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his son Arthur Russell Edwards, Jr. and four brothers Basil (Ennice) Edwards, Claude Edwards, Ronald Edwards and Robert Edwards. A memorial service to celebrate Mr. Edwards' life will be held Saturday January 25, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Beulahland Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by Rev. Anthony Gordy and Rev. John Holmes; Interment conducted by Rev. Jerry Simpkins will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday beginning at 12:30 PM until time for the service.
