Mr. Artis Arthur Doss

Mr. Artis Arthur Doss, 77 of Mount Airy, passed away on Saturday afternoon, April 22, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Doss was born in Surry County on January 3, 1940 to the late Roy Lee Doss and Dessie Virginia Kirkman Doss. Mr. Doss was a self-employed brick mason and retired body-shop owner, but most of all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed. Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Carol Lewis Doss; a daughter, Angela Rector; two sons, Timothy Alan Doss and wife Joan, and Jon Doss; four step-children and spouses, Lisa King, Cheryl and husband Juan Perez, Debbie and husband Scotty Johnson, and Brian Puckett; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pansy and husband Cecil Wheeling, Sylvia Feeny, and Mary Ann and husband Paul Godino; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and wife Kaye Doss, Gary and wife Linda Doss, and Roy and wife Sue Goin; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Doss was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michelle Reeves; and a brother, Walter Wayne Doss. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with services conducted by Pastor J. L. Young, and Pastor Rex Adams. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Garden. The family will receive friends on Monday night, April 24, 2017 at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to all the doctors and nursing staff at Forsyth Medical Center for all of the love and care given to Mr. Doss and his family during his illness.
