Mr. Ausby Shirley "Pug" Gilley

Mr. Ausby Shirley “Pug” Gilley, age 83, of Stuart passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2015 at Pioneer Community Hospital in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on Oct. 19, 1931 to the late Bert Sylvester Gilley, Sr. and Hulda Biggs Gilley. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by three half-sisters, Glenna Gilley Brown, Gladys Gilley Dalton, Elizabeth Gilley Wray and two half-brothers, Bert Sylvester Gilley Jr. and Curtis Gilley. Mr. Gilley served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from DuPont after 30 years of service and attended Providence United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Elda Lawson Gilley of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Sharan Gilley of Stuart; two grandchildren, Michael Gilley and wife, Devon of Bassett, Mallory and Matt Schock of Beulaville, NC; one great grandson, Max Gilley; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Lee Jessie of Martinsville, Emogene and Allen Dillon of Martinsville; one brother, Elton Gilley of Collinsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Norman Biggs officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
