Mr. Benjamin Herdman Odell

Mr. Benjamin Herdman O'Dell age 77 of 531 Virgilina Circle, Cana, VA husband of Mrs. Ella Jean Dillon O'Dell passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012 at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born October 1, 1934 in Swiss W.VA to the late Joseph and Dixie Simms O'Dell. He served his country in the US Air Force having served during the Korean War. He was a retired from Sears Roebuck Company and was mason. Surviving are his wife, Ella Jean O'Dell of the home, a daughter, Missy Shumate, King, NC, a son, Rick O'Dell, Wytheville,VA, a daughter-in-law, Brenda Marshall O'Dell, Bristol, VA, four grandchildren and a spouse, Kelly O'Dell Boyd and Lee, Bristol, TN, Jacob Shumate, Luke Shumate and Noah Shumate all of King, NC, two great grandchildren, Collin Boyd and Kyleigh Boyd both of Bristol, TN, four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Joan Wells, Beckley, W.VA, Betty Curtis and Buck, Beckley, W. VA, Linda Allen, Roanoke, VA, Connie Brown and William, Beckley, W.VA, three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron O'Dell and Nada, Beckley, W.VA, Bill O'Dell and Suzanne, and Gary O'Dell and Rosemary, Beckley, W. VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. O'Dell was preceded in death by a son, Keith O'Dell and two brothers, Mork and Gene O'Dell. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, May 7, 2012 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Bill Slater. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens.
