Mr. Bernice Ray Handy

Mr. Bernice Ray Handy, age 69, of Westfield, NC, passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born in Stokes County, NC on Dec. 1, 1947 to the late Benjamin Handy and Minnie Overby Handy. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Burnette Handy; and a daughter, Debbie Bowman. Mr. Handy loved farming and was a member of Collinstown Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are two sons, Dallas E. Russell of Beckley, WV; William M. Herndon and fiancé, Beverley Essick of Westfield, NC; three grandchildren, Christy Handy, Kelly Hawks, Dolly Glenn; and two great grandchildren, Jacob Handy and Daniel Handy.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 13, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. Burial will follow in the Stateline Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
