Mr. Billy Odell "Ba" Hardy

Billy Odell Hardy, affectionately known Ba", age 74 of Dobson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center with his loving family by his side. The cause of death was a stroke. He was born in Surry County on January 1, 1940 to the late Monroe Odell and Daisy Mallie Wood Hardy. Bill retired as a Master Sergeant in the United States Army Reserve. He still worked as an OSHA Safety Instructor. Bill was a member of Salem Baptist Church his entire life. He was known for his service. He served God, country and was an extremely active servant of his community. He leaves to cherish his memory , his loving wife of 50 years, Linda Hill Hardy, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Brian Moody, of State Road; a son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Leslie Hardy, of Spartanburg, SC; five beloved grandchildren, Barrett Hardy, Claire Hardy, Briggs Hardy, Bryson Moody and Kaylin Moody; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Abby and Jimmy Branch, of Dobson and Brenda and Roger Garris of Hamptonville; a very special aunt, Lucille Wood, of Dobson; and numerous extended family members and friends. The funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Salem Baptist Church by Dr. Bobby Lewis and Dr. Darrell Tate with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Salem Baptist Church on Thursday from 6 until 9 pm where his body will remain until the hour of the service.
