Mr. Billy Graham Mitchell, Sr

Mr. Billy Graham Mitchell, Sr., age 90 of Stuart, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015 at his home. He was born in Patrick County on March 29, 1925 to the late Louis and Ida Beasley Mitchell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Billy Mitchell, Jr.; a son in law, Carl Collie; two brothers, Randolph and Norman Mitchell; an infant sister, Ruby Mitchell; and a brother in law, Paul Hopkins. Mr. Mitchell was a member of Fairview Pentecostal Holiness Church; served in the US Navy during WWII; was a member of the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard; a former President of the Red Cross; and was active in the Citizens Against Family Violence.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Rosa Cole Mitchell of the home; two daughters and son in law, Louise Collie of Bassett, Jackie and Ronnie Kendrick of Martinsville; one granddaughter, Ashley McAvoy and husband, Shawn; and one sister, Barbara Hopkins of Stuart.
