Mr. Bobby Lee Gaither, age 77 of Stuart, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at his home. He was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on July 12, 1937. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Brown, Sr. and Lucy Mae Gaither Brown, and two brothers, Charles William Brown and Tony Alfonzo Brown. He was a member of Galilee Baptist Church before moving his membership to Antioch Christian Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He loved his church and sang in the church choir. He enjoyed all types of music, cooking (especially grilling out), traveling, skating, and entertaining his family and friends. He worked in the furniture industry, and more recently had worked for Dollar General.
Mr. Gaither is survived by his wife of 32 years, Betty Hill Gaither of the home; four sons, Michael Gaither and wife, Vicky of Maple Hill, North Carolina, Bobby Lee Gaither, Jr. and wife, Deborah of Winston-Salem, Donnell Gaither of Winston-Salem, Kenneth Gaither and wife, Molinda of Ohio; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Eugene Brown and wife, Barbara of Winston-Salem, Haywood Brown of Winton-Salem, James Brown, Jr. and wife, Reva of Richmond; one sister, Delores Gilliam and husband, James of Winston-Salem; a sister-in-law, Ethel Brown of Winston-Salem; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Greater Tabernacle of Praise with Rev. James A. Gilliam officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Antioch Christian Church, 1432 Underwood Avenue, Winston-Salem, North Carolina 27103. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements.
