Mr. Bruce Wayne McKinney

Mr. Bruce Wayne McKinney, age 53 of Stuart, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Duke University Hospital surrounded by those he loved after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on February 12, 1958 in Dayton, Ohio, grew up in California and subsequently moved to Stuart, Virginia in 1981 where he lived every day to the fullest, loved completely, and saw humor in everything. He was preceded in death by his mother, Delores June Cagle McKinney, and was a member of Fairystone Baptist Church.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 34 years, Elizabeth Morrison McKinney of Stuart; son, Eric McKinney and his wife Kim of Pennsylvania; daughter, Jennifer Cox and her husband Bear and granddaughter, Jessica of Pennsylvania; a great friend, Arnold Hylton of Stuart; father, Harry McKinney and his wife Penny of California; brother, Steve McKinney of Nevada; half-sisters, Dawn Jones and Deanna McKinney of California; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Amos and Yolanda Morrison, brothers-in-law, Timm and Bailey Morrison and their families; sister-in-law, Cyndi Dunham and family.
A celebration of Bruce's life will be held Thursday, October 6, 2011 at l:00 p.m. at Fairystone Baptist Church with Pastor Clint Conner officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church with burial immediately afterwards in the church cemetery. Friends and family may also visit the surviving family at 503 Pilson Sawmill Road in Stuart. If desired, memorials may made to the Smith River Rescue Squad, P.O.
