Mr. Burton Ray Foddrell

Mr. Burton Ray Foddrell, age 64 of Stuart, Virginia passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at the V.A. Medical Center in Salem, Virginia. He was born in Patrick County on April 13, 1950 to the late Marvin R. Foddrell and Mary E. Turner Foddrell. In addition to his parents, Mr. Foddrell was preceded in death by a sister, Goldie Nichols. He received an Associate's Degree in Business Administration from Patrick Henry Community College, and had served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Greater Tabernacle of Praise, and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, known as "Papa Ray".
Mr. Foddrell is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jennie Roberson Foddrell of the home; two daughters, Karae L. Foddrell of High Point, North Carolina and Kellie Foddrell Foster and husband, Girard of Collinsville; two grandchildren, Elijah Foster and Zion-Grace Foster; two brothers, Marvin "Donnie" Foddrell of Martinsville and James E. Foddrell and wife, Linda, of Liberty, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Greater Tabernacle of Praise with Elder Ronnie Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. A wake will be held one hour prior to the service at the church, and at other times at the home. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements.
