Mr. Calvin Junior Bowman

Mr. Calvin Junior "C. J." "Doc" Bowman, age 86 of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Bowman was born in Surry County, August 4, 1924 to Samuel W. and Darsilla Nester Bowman. He was a well known dump truck driver. Surviving is a daughter-in-law, Pamela Bowman of the home; grandchildren James Bowman and wife, Heather; Laura B. Melzark and husband, Joseph; and Savannah Bowman of the home; great grandchildren, Alex Melzark, Patricia Melzark, Chloe Bowman, Calvin Bowman and Kenedee Bowman. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Sue Goodson Bowman; a son, Jimmy Calvin Bowman; sisters, Louise, Lindie, Tossie Bessie, Ada and Effie and brothers, Walter, Bill and Oscar. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Fred Chilton. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436.
