Mr. Calvin D. Bowman, Jr

Mr. Calvin D. Bowman, Jr. age 50 of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at his home. Mr. Bowman was born in Hartford, CT on October 17, 1963 to Mary Florence Brasslett Bowman and the late Calvin D. Bowman, Sr. Mr. Bowman was employed with NC Granite Corporation from 1997 until 2013 when his illness prevented him from working any longer. He was a loving husband, father, son and brother who will be dearly missed by all his devoted family. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, Michelle Burtcham Bowman; a daughter Ashley Bowman; a son Bryan Bowman both of Mt. Airy; his mother, Mary B. Bowman; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kimberly Knowles of Mt. Airy, Tracey and Lloyd Hughes and Jennifer and Mike Hall and a brother and sister-in-law, Alex and Deborah Bowman all of Ararat, VA. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Holy Angels Catholic Church by Rev. Father Lawrence W. Heiney. Burial will follow in Peoples Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night at Holy Angels from 6:00 to 8:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Moody Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
