Mr. Carl Wayne Burge

Mr. Carl Wayne Burge, age 90 of Claudville, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2015 at his home. He was born in Patrick County on November 3, 1924 to the late Walter Richard Burge and Nora Ellen Stanley Burge. In addition to his parents, Mr. Burge was preceded in death by his wife, Lelia Anna Flippin Burge; three brothers, Walter Stanley Burge, Jr., James Burge and Herbert Burge; and seven half-brothers and half-sisters. He was the last living founding charter member of the Red Bank Ruritan Club and a Tom Downing Fellow Award recipient, as well as a charter member of the CCDF Fire Department. He was a longtime member and Deacon of Red Bank Primitive Baptist Church. He served three terms with the ASCS Office, enjoyed the fellowship of the Food and Fun Group and loved to play Rook.

Mr. Burge is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Garland and Connie Burge of Claudville, Ronnie and Glenda Burge of Danville; three grandchildren, Randy Burge and wife, Heather, Megan Patterson and husband, Mike, Sara Burge and fiancé, Will Koger; one great-grandson, Wesley Richard Burge; three step-grandchildren, Dale Wall and wife, Rachel, Jennifer Wall and Jamie Marshall and husband, Jason; four step-great-grandchildren, Zackery Wall, Wyatt Wall, Kaliegh Watson and Layla Wall; one sister, Gladys Blankenship of Martinsville; and one brother and sister-in-law, Marion Camden and Wimpie Burge of Mount Airy, North Carolina.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elder Lacey Gates, Elder Rodney Marshall, Elder Scotty Marshall and Elder Larry Blevens officiating. Burial will follow in the Red Bank Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home.
