Mr. Carroll Curtis Coates, Sr

Mr. Carroll Curtis Coates, Sr., age 85 of Stuart, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart. He was born in Halifax County on November 4, 1929 to the late Garland and Nellie Younger Coates. In addition to his parents, Mr. Coates was preceded in death by a son, Thad Coates and a daughter, Sherri Coates. He had served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a man of honor, integrity and love for his family; a life well lived.

Mr. Coates is survived by his wife, Virginia Wilson Coates of the home; one son, Curt Coates of Stuart; three grandchildren, Colt, Mason and Meghan Coates; one brother, Wayland Coates of Halifax; and one sister, Jane Sadler of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Fairystone Baptist Church with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be private. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is handling the arrangements.
