Mr. Cecil Junior Simmons

Mr. Cecil Junior Simmons, age 79 of Stuart, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2011 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. He was born in Stokes County, North Carolina on November 24, 1931 to the late Bob and Etta Booth Simmons. In addition to his parents, Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Haley Simmons; and five brothers, Ed, Wilbur, Roy "Pee Wee", Gilmer and Raymond Simmons. He had served in the United States Army, had retired from United Elastic where he worked in the maintenance department, and for numerous years, conducted a religious program on the local radio.
Mr. Simmons is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Penny and J. W. Belcher of Stuart and Christy and Matt Riester of Centreville; a God-daughter , Susan Taro, and husband, Joey of Jamestown, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Jessica Moricle, and husband Dusty, Nathan Lee Riester, Wesley Davis Riester, J. C. Belcher, George Belcher and Michaela Belcher; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Junior Martin of Stuart; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Charlene Lawson of Stuart; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Simmons will be held Monday, May 9, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Bernard Handy, Rev. Jim Churchwell, Rev. J. R. Vipperman and Rev. David Henry officiating. Burial will follow in Five Forks Wesleyan Church Cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
