Mr. Charles Larry Gilliam, 63 of Claudville died unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 31, 2014. He was born in Carroll County, VA to Viola Jones Gilliam and the late Charles Lee “Charlie" Gilliam. Mr. Gilliam retired this year to enjoy time with his family and friends. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. Mr. Gilliam was well known throughout the community as a good man and great neighbor and friend, helping anyone when in need. He is survived by his devoted wife, Cathy Heflin Gilliam; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Kasi Gilliam and Jake Weston Gilliam, Kevin and Elizabeth Easter, Travis and Leann Easter; grandchildren, Taylor Brooke “Noodlehead" Johnston, Tyler James “Jarhead" Easter, Kayla “Princess" Easter Hiatt and husband, Ross, Jazer Ain " Little Man" Gilliam, Sayler Noelle Hubbard, Maggie Elizabeth “Brown Eyes" Easter and Molly Rose “Little Rat" Easter; a great-granddaughter, Kara Nicole "Little Princess" Hiatt; sisters and brother-in-law, Joann and Jim Marshall, Shirley Willis and Diana Hall a special nephew, Jessie Willis and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Mr. Gilliam was preceded in death by a son, Ritchie Allen Gilliam. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 pm on Sunday, January 4, 2014 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with Rev. David Bowman officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:30 until the time of the service.
