Mr. Charles Lynwood Jones

Mr. Charles Lynwood Jones, 73 of Cana passed away at Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart on Saturday, September 21, 2013. He was born in Carroll County, VA on December 19, 1939 to the late William Lissie and Lina Mae Jones. Mr. Jones was well known in the community for his dedication to his family, friends and businesses. He and his brother, Perry Jones started working together in 1968 starting Jones Service Center. In 1988 they jointly formed Jones Enterprises and retired. Additionally in 1993 he started Jones Produce Company for his two sons to operate until 2010. Mr. Jones enjoyed meeting people, and family and friends were very important to him. He loved running his businesses, farming and raising cattle. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lorraine Gladys McCreary Jones of the home, two sons, Marty Jones of Cana Scott Jones of Winston Salem; three grandchildren, Meagan Jones and fiancé, Dustin Friend, Evan Jones and Bryson Jones; one great grandchild, Madeline Grace; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Faye Hardigree and Helen and Eddie Vaughn all of Cana; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Forrest Jones, Herman and Edith Jones, Perry and Ida Jones, Odell and Maggie Jones and Donald and Mary Jones all of Cana. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Willard and four brothers, Junior, Namon, Harlie and Berna Jones. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday at the Jones Family Cemetery in Cana with full military rites conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends at the cemetery from 10:00 until 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
