Mr. Christian V. Williams

Mr. Christian V. Williams, age 87, of Stuart, passed away Monday, December 4, 2017 at his home. He was born in Patrick County on March 5, 1930 to the late V.R. Williams and Lowell Conner Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betsy W. Bowling; and four brothers, Richard, Lane, Dorn, and Billy Williams. Mr. Williams had served in the U.S. Army and had worked in sawmilling, logging, and cattle farming. He was also co-founder of Williams and Wood Racing; owner of C.V. Williams and Son Trucking Company; and owner/operator of Green Hill Western. He loved horses and spent many years raising and showing them. He was a member of Stuart Baptist Church.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 66 years, Carolyn Thompson Williams of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Gary Nowlin of Stuart, Beverly and Richard Joachim of Roanoke; one son and daughter-in-law, Rodger and Teresa Williams of Stuart; 8 grandchildren, Terrence Nowlin, Meredith Nowlin and husband, Reed Griffith, Andrew Joachim, Bradley Joachim and fiancé, Lindsey Umsted, Christopher Joachim, Eli Williams, Luke Williams, Levi Williams; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Sue Griffith of Boones Mill, Carol Vernon of Stuart, Sherry and Ron Meng of Madison Heights; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Buddy and Pauline Williams, Mica and Shirley Williams, Gary and Rendy Williams all of Stuart, Peggy Williams of Port Republic, MD, Charlene Williams of Stuart, Dae Williams of Stuart; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Stuart Baptist Church with Revs. Joe Pauliks, Robert Belcher, and James Brackett officiating. Burial will follow in the Stuart Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 5 to 7 at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
