Mr. Clarence Eugene Mitchell

Mr. Clarence Eugene Mitchell, age 75 of Stuart, Virginia passed away at his home on Friday, May 22, 2015. He was born in Patrick County on September 12, 1939 to the late George Dillard Mitchell and Mary Jane Stevens Mitchell. In addition to his parents Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by three brothers, Hughes L. Mitchell, Ray Mitchell and Curtis Mitchell; and two sisters Rachel M. Ward and Ruth M. Martin. Clarence was very devoted to his faith and to Collinstown Presbyterian Church; where he was a longtime member and had served as Elder for two terms. Other than his beloved family his passion in life was cattle farming. Additionally he had worked as a school bus driver for the Patrick County School System for 20 years and was a founding member of CCDF Volunteer Fire Department.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Juanita Puckett Mitchell of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherri Mitchell Hazlewood and husband, Richard of Stuart; a son and daughter-in-law, Darrell Wade Mitchell and wife, Penny of Stuart; three grandchildren, Jacob Darrell Mitchell, Natalie Lisette Mitchell, and Jordan Chase Robertson; two step-grandchildren, Brandon J. Hazlewood and Dustin S. Hazlewood; five step-great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Ola Mae Mitchell of Bassett; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Nannie Lou Anderson, Bobbi Jo Mabe, and Betty Overby, all of Westfield, North Carolina, Patty and David Taylor of Tega City, South Carolina, and Shirley and Jerry Walker of Pinnacle, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Mitchell will be held on Monday, May 25, 2015 at 11:00am at Collinstown Presbyterian Church with Pastors Shaun Draughn, Tracey Collins and Jesse Bledsoe officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart on Sunday evening from 6:00pm until 8:00pm and at other times at the home.
