Mr. Claude Everett Thompson age 86 of Ararat, VA widower of Mrs. Ethel Hazel Willis Thompson passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the Central Continuing Care. He was born January 21, 1928 in Patrick County, VA to the late John Henry and Notie Alice Puckett Thompson. He was a farmer and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Thompson was also a member of Free Masonary for over 50 years. Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Thompson Adame and husband, Juan of Ararat, VA, Rita Thompson Francis and husband, Tommy of Pilot Mountain, NC, four grandchildren, Captain Corey Bowman and wife, Jessica of Fort Leonard Wood, MO, Amanda Bowman of Ararat, VA Benjamin Francis and John Francis both of Pilot Mountain, a sister, Mildred Glenn of Winston-Salem, and two brothers Fred and wife, Marie Thompson of Ararat, VA and Turner Thompson of Ararat, VA and sisters-in-law, Attrice Thompson of Ararat, VA and Mabel Thompson of Mt. Airy, NC. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by two sisters, Mattie Young and May Belle Smith and four brothers, Alvis Thompson, Benton Thompson, Lawrence Thompson and Ralph Thompson. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be conducted by Rev. Darren Slate. Burial will follow in the Willis Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. Full Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by VFW Post 2019 Mt. Airy and VFW Post 9436 Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Friday at Moody Funeral Home.
