Mr. Clifford Alvis Custer

Mr. Clifford Alvis Custer, age 70 of Patrick Springs passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. He was born in Patrick County on November 10, 1943. He was the son of the late Margaret Ratliff Hatcher and Roy Jackson Custer, and was also preceded in death by a son, Kyle Roy Custer. He retired from Fieldcrest Mills in Fieldale with 40 years of service and loved to hunt and fish.
Mr. Custer is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Erin Martin of Bassett; a granddaughter, Christina Childress and a great-granddaughter, Kylee Childress, both of Patrick Springs; a sister, Patsy R. Nicholson of Patrick Springs; and a brother, Daniel W. Reynolds of Spencer.
Funeral services for Mr. Custer will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Brian Cardwell officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and at other times at the home of Gretchen Cockram and Christy Childress.
