Mr. Clyde Linton Anthony, 89, devoted husband of Mrs. Mildred Edwards Anthony of Elkin passed away peacefully on Monday, September 16, 2013 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Surry County on May 24, 1924 to the late Malory Vance and Gertrude Stinson Anthony. Mr. Anthony was a retired self-employed farmer and a member of Little Richmond Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having proudly served our country during WW II. After his release from the Navy, he and his beloved fiancé, along with their best friends, Palmer Day and Savannah Seagraves, eloped on Thanksgiving Day 1945 and the couples remained close friends. After almost 69 years of marriage, they remained true loves. From this union, they were blessed with two wonderful children, Louise Anthony Norman of Elkin, and Clyde Lee Anthony, who married Patricia Johnson Anthony, now residing in Roswell Georgia. Their blessings continued with the birth of two precious grandchildren, Patrick Neal Anthony, his wife, Eve Kumnic Anthony of Snellville, Georgia, Michelle Lee Anthony Balachowski, her husband Brian Balachowski of Marietta, Georgia; three beloved great-grandchildren Lily "Bug" Caroline Anthony, Tyler Joseph Balachowski, and Anslee Marie Balachowski. Along with these survivors is his dear sister, Nell Rea Greene of Hickory and several special nieces, nephews, and dear friends. In addition to his parents, a sister, Estelle Irene Sale and a brother, Ralph Dalton Anthony preceded him in death. His funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Friday in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home of Dobson by Rev. J.V. Lowe with burial to follow in Little Richmond Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Home and other times at the Anthony home. Heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for their loving and compassionate care. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home 945 Zephyr Road Dobson, NC 27017, or to the charity of the Donor's choice.
