Mr. Curtis D. Mitchell

Mr. Curtis D. Mitchell, age 81 of Westfield, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born in Stokes County, North Carolina on September 6, 1929 to the late George Dillard Mitchell and Mary Jane Stevens Mitchell. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Overby Mitchell; two sisters, Rachael Ward and Ruth Martin; and one brother, Hughes Mitchell. He was a member of Stateline Primitive Baptist Church.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by one son, Danny Mitchell of Westfield; one grandson, Danny Rain Mitchell; a step-grandson, Michael Manning; three brothers; Clarence Mitchell of Stuart, Alvin Mitchell of Bassett and Ray Mitchell of Westfield; five sisters, Nannie Lou Anderson, Betty Overby and Bobbie Jo Mabe, all of Westfield, Shirley Walker of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina and Patti Taylor of Charlotte, North Carolina; and special friend and caregiver, Sylvia Burton of Westfield.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Stateline Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Jerry Cox, Willie Brame and J. H. Keaton officiating. Burial will follow in Stateline Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
