Mr. Denny Edward East

Mr. Denny Edward East age 81 of 1760 Little Mountain Church Road, Ararat, NC widower of Mrs. Mattie Evelyn O'Neal East passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born August 5, 1932 to the late Wilburn and Inez McMillian East. He was a retired carpenter. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Michael Martin of Dobson, Sue Alderman of Mt. Airy, Scarlet and Charles Coalson, Jr. of Ararat, VA, a son and daughter-in-law, Denny Lee East and Diann of Ararat, NC, nine grandchildren and spouses, Shannon and Charlie Starr, Casey and Travis Green, Denny "D.J." East, Jr., and Candice, Jason Martin, Eric Martin, Kari and Henry Brandt, Hollie Alderman, Nikki Coalson and Ashley Coalson, nine great grandchildren, five sisters and brothers-in-law, Rachel and Donald Marion, Magdalene and Wallace Creed, Ruby George, Jewell and Rev. Bill Faw, Billie Jo and Mickey Bouldin all of Mt. Airy, and Diane and Gary Barnes of Mt. Airy and a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Jewel East of Mt. Airy. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. East was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Tim Alderman, two sisters, Mary Wall and Ruth Creed and two brothers, Junior East and Johnny East. A graveside service will be held 1:00 pm Sunday March 23, 2014 at Ararat Friends Meeting Cemetery. The service will be conducted by Rev. Kermit Gray and Rev. Michael Martin. The family will receive friends 6-8 Saturday night at Moody Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Moody Funeral Service to help the family with funeral expenses.
