Mr. Donald Elbert Hiatt

Mr. Donald Elbert Hiatt, 77 , of Ararat, VA passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 at his home. He was born in Patrick County on May 15, 1938 to the late Curtis Lee and Hattie Gurtis Hiatt Hiatt. Mr. Hiatt was a retired farmer and was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Neldia White Hiatt of the home; daughters and son-in-law, Donna and Steve "Pete" Fariss, Angela Speas all of Ararat, VA; a son, Lee Hiatt and his girlfriend, Andrea Miller of Oviedo, FL; grandchildren, Angel Speas, Jansen Wood, and Joshua Fariss; sisters, Estelle Wrede of Ararat, VA, and Bernice Walker of Morganton, NC; a sister-in-law, Ethel Hiatt of High Point; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hiatt was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary Hiatt and a brother, Gilbert Hiatt; an infant brother, Franklin Hiatt. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Arlis Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Gunnell Family Cemetery in Ararat, VA. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
