Mr. Edgar Dillard Griffin

Mr. Edgar Dillard Griffin, 73, of Mt. Airy passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Golden Living-Surry Community. He was born in Waycross, GA on January 25, 1941 to the late Noah Dillard and Inez Driggers Griffin. Mr. Griffin retired from Salem Electric and was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a hardworking man who bravely served in the U.S. Marines from 1961 until 1966. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Mary Clark Griffin of the home; six daughters, Maria Darlene and Ronald Draughn, Cynthia Lynn and Jonathan Rochelle, Melissa Ann Griffin, Samantha Ann Griffin, Rebecca Inez Griffin and Kristy Elizabeth Griffin; two sons, Edgar Allen Junior Griffin and Jeffery Wayne Griffin; four grandchildren, Stephen Matthew Griffin, Victoria Michelle Griffin, Olivia Rene Robertson and Jennifer Rebecca Griffin; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Timmy and Wendy Griffin and John Stephen Griffin. A graveside service will be held at the William Hiatt Family Cemetery on Sheep Farm Road at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jonathan Rochelle and Bishop Randall Gentry officiating. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Saturday from 12:30 pm until the time to leave for the service.
