Mr. Eldon Watson Shough

Mr. Eldon Watson Shough, 88, of Patrick Springs passed peacefully from this life into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, November 24, 2013.
Eldon was a son of the late R. Luther Shough and Annie M. Shough. His sister, Pauline Plaster and his brother, Raymond Shough, also preceded him in death.
A Hardin Reynolds High School graduate, Eldon enlisted in the Armed Guard of the United States Navy where his lifelong love of the ocean began. He was proud to serve his country and spoke often of his experiences. He was a long term and dedicated member of Providence United Methodist Church. He deeply cared for and tirelessly served his church family.
Eldon leaves behind his loving family, his wife of 63 years, Coleen F. Shough; two daughters, Susan McDonald and husband Terry, Rita Arrup and husband John; two granddaughters, Katie Thomas and Kelly Arrup; a great grandson, Brandon Thomas, one brother Richard Shough, and many devoted nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Funeral services for Mr. Shough will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Providence United Methodist Church with Pastor David Westmoreland officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Eldon's memory to the Providence United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1021 Providence Drive, Patrick Springs, Virginia 24133.
