Mr. Foy Rice Owens

Mr. Foy Rice Owens, age 68 of Stuart, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Pioneer Community Hospital. He was born in Patrick County on January 23, 1946. Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Oliver Owens; his paternal grandparents, John Elzie and Mary Dalton Owens; and his maternal grandparents, Achel Clark and Lena Harris Rice. He graduated in 1968 from Virginia Tech and was the owner of Patrick Henry Insurance Agency. He loved Virginia Tech football, taking his grandchildren on tractor rides, and was an avid farmer.
Mr. Owens is survived by three children and their spouses, Mark and Tara Owens of Milton, Tennessee, Natalie and Gary Foreman of Edenton, North Carolina and Rice and Kimberly Owens of Denver, Colorado; six grandchildren, Gaskin, Newbern and Carson Foreman and Tanner, Maddie and Lockett Owens; two step-grandchildren, Leah and Ashley Leyhew; and a great-granddaughter, Emalyn; his mother, Beulah Rice Owens of Stuart; and one brother, Joe Owens of Stuart.
Funeral services for Mr. Owens will be held Friday, July 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. Burial will follow in Stuart Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
