Mr. Frank Peyton Blount Jr

Mr. Frank Peyton Blount, Jr., age 93, from Mountain Park, NC passed away on Wednesday July 23, 2014, in Bradenton, Fl. He was born in Augusta, Ga., on April 7, 1921, to the late Frank Peyton Blount, Sr. and to the late Sadie Juanita Huffman Blount. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Sarah Hall Blount. Frank graduated from Manatee High School in Bradenton, Florida, in 1939. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was President of the Hernando DeSoto Historical Society, in Bradenton, Florida. He served as Hernando DeSoto in 1960. He was of the Methodist faith, and was a member of the Mountain Park, N.C. Ruritan Club. Frank worked for many years in the construction business, including concrete business, town water system installation, carpentry, and restoration projects. Surviving are his two daughters and son-in-law Judith Blount Fowler and husband John Fowler of Madison, NC, Charmaine Blount of Greensboro, NC; son Frank Harwood Blount of Bradenton, Fl; three grandchildren Katie Blount, John Blount, and Megan Mathis; five great grandchildren Trever, Tommy, Tyler, Trisha, and Lillee; a sister Francis Blount Davis of Bradenton, Fl. A graveside service will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday July 30, 2014, in the Mountain Park Cemetery. Rev. Tony White will conduct the service.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Tidewell Hospice, Philanthropy Department, 5955 Randy Boulevard, Sarasota, Florida, 34238. Our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Tidewell Hospice for their compassionate care of our Dad.
