Mr. Fred Roger Snow Sr

Mr. Fred Roger Snow, Sr. age 88, of Dobson, NC passed away on Saturday morning February 28, 2015 at the Chatham Nursing Center in Elkin. He was born in Surry County on January 1, 1927 to the late C.R. and Eva Adams Snow. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Lois Johnson Snow; daughter Sheila Norman; and brother Don Snow. Fred was a veteran of WWII and served with the US Navy aboard the submarine USS Carp. He was a farmer by trade, awarded Surry County Farmer of the Year in 1971 and served on the N.C. State Board of Agriculture 1973-1977. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and loved calling Dobson home. Surviving are his children Betty and Joe Riddle of Ararat, NC, Aimee Wagoner of Dobson, Greta and Todd Gardner of Dobson; Freddy and Kathy Snow of Dobson, Benny and Diane Snow of Dobson; twelve grandchildren Payge and Dean Durham, Monica and David Hardy, Deitra Snow, Kevin and Lisa Snow, Nathan and Kristin Snow, Christa and Nigel Campbell, Laura Riddle, Jonathan and Kayla Norman, Abbie Wagoner, Kirstin Gardner, Emily Wagoner, and Karmen Gardner; eleven great grandchildren Sophia, Eli, Sadie, Colin, Rhiannon, Regan, Payton, A.J., Waylon, Rachel, and Brayln; three sisters and two brothers-in-law Ann and Joe Ellen of Raleigh, Jo Dockery of Dobson, Betty and Pete Woodruff of Boonville; sister-in-law Connie Snow of Raleigh. A memorial service will be held 6:00 P.M. Sunday evening March 1, 2015 at Fairview Baptist Church with Dr. Blue Bryan conducting the service. The family will receive friends in church fellowship hall following the service. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Snow family.
