Mr. G. Edward Martin

Mr. G. Edward Martin, age 67 of Stuart, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Patrick County on April 12, 1946 to the late William Beamer and Virginia Otra Roberts Martin. In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by an infant brother, Elbert Martin. He was a member of Community Primitive Baptist Church, and had retired from Rubber Thread as a supervisor. He was a wonderful husband, dad and grandfather.
Mr. Martin is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Hutchens Martin of the home; one daughter, Tammy Martin of Chesapeake; one son, Ryan Martin of Charles Town, West Virginia; two grandchildren, Justin Martin and Jordan Martin; four sisters, Ellen Fulcher, Evelyn Hazelwood, Eva Cassady Thomas and Edna Smart, all of Stuart; his mother-in-law, Ruth Hutchens of Stuart; and two special aunts, Sylvia Lawson of Stuart and Shirley Clifton of Ridgeway.
Funeral services for Mr. Martin will be held Monday, January 27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elder Lewis Vass, Elder Milton Gunter and Jerry Hutchens officiating. Burial will follow in the Community Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, and at other times at the home.
