Mr. Garnett Gray Lawson

Mr. Garnett Gray Lawson, 69, of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, December 11, 2014 at his home. He was born in Surry County on March 29, 1945 to the late Lester and Jettie Viola Sawyers Lawson. Mr. Lawson served our country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Lisa Lawson; grandchildren, Nicole Franklin; Kristy Whitaker and Jarrett Kyle Lawson; sisters, Eva Meredith, Gracie Lillian Jones and Edith Young; and a brother, Wayne Lawson; half sisters, Darlene Beck and Barbara Williams; half brother, Everette Lawson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Jo Lawson; a sister, Patricia Ann Siegert; brothers, Paul, Ransom and Charles Lawson. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the Lawson Family Cemetery with the Bro. Don Collins officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by VFW Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy on Tuesday from 12:30 PM until the time to leave for the service. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that memorials be made to Moody Funeral Home, PO Box 1288, Mt.
