Mr. Gary Thomas Shaw

Mr. Gary Thomas Shaw, 60, of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem after a long illness. He was born in Surry County on August 1, 1957 to the late Thomas Edger and Hazel Childress Shaw. Mr. Shaw was a painter and was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. He is survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda Cooper and Wayne of Mt. Airy, Melissa Jones Easter and R.C. of Ararat, VA, Teresa Shaw of Ashville; brothers and sister-in-law, Michael Shaw and Gaynell of Mt. Airy, Sammy Shaw of Cana, VA; many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sammy Lawson officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, and other times at Melissa Jones home, 22 Smith Ranch Rd., Ararat, VA 24053.
