Mr. H. David Liles

Mr. H. David Liles, age 75 of Stuart, Virginia, formerly of Grifton, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017 at his home. He was born in Wadesboro, North Carolina on May 5, 1941 to the late Fred Brooks Liles and Julia Elizabeth Hatcher Liles. In addition he was preceded in death by his brother, Fred B. Liles, Jr; and his sister, Beth Liles Howie. David was known as “Spot” to many, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Grifton, North Carolina, where he had been a deacon and taught Sunday School. He had 41 years of service with Dupont with seven of those years at the Savanah River Plant in Aiken, South Carolina and the remaining years at the Kinston Plant in Grifton, North Carolina. He was an avid hunter, gun collector, and a proud lifetime member of the NRA. His quick wit led to “Davidisms”, funny phrases that family and friends find themselves repeating. He loved and was loved by many and will be truly missed.

David is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Nancy Dietz Liles of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, David Wayne and Lauren Liles of Brooklyn, New York; his daughter, Rebecca Liles Kolb of Grifton, North Carolina; and his grandchildren, Daisy Wayne Liles and Maximillian David Liles.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later date in North Carolina. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donation be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 18981 Jeb Stuart Hwy., Stuart, VA 24171.
