Mr. Herbert Lester Rorrer, age 81 of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the Pioneer Community Hospital in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on October 19, 1929 to the late Lemly and Mildred Dollarhite Rorrer. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rorrer was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence Leon Rorrer, Jimmy Rorrer and Bobby Ray Rorrer. He served in the United States Army during the Korean war, was a member of Bouldin Memorial Presbyterian Church, and had been a truck driver for Wilson Trucking Company for 37 years.
Mr. Rorrer is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patsy Williams Rorrer of the home; three sons, Terry L. Rorrer, Kenneth David Rorrer, Michael Steven Rorrer and wife, Kelly, all of Stuart; three grandchildren, Michael Shawn Rorrer and wife, Misty, Amber Marie Rakes and husband, Erik, and Tiffany Lynn Rorrer; two great-grandchildren, Michael Titus Rorrer and Collin Daniel Rakes; and one sister and brother-in-law, Mary Elizabeth and Ron Hiatt of Mount Airy, North Carolina.
Funeral services for Mr. Rorrer will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. Burial will follow in the Bouldin Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
