Mr. Hobert Clinton Simpson

Mr. Hobert Clinton Simpson, age 76, of Mount Airy passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Friday, June 26, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Simpson was born in Surry County on June 6, 1939 to the late Floyd and Myrtle Draughn Simpson. He was a self-employed painter and a dedicated member of Liberty Baptist Church as long as his health permitted. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of twenty one years, Patricia Wall Simpson, of the home; two beloved children, Terry and wife Tammy Simpson of Mount Airy and Stacy Payne and fiancé, Michael Blandford of Clearwater, Florida; one grandchild, T.C. and wife Erin Simpson; two step grandchildren, Joshua Holder and T.J. Holder; one great-grandchild, Emery Simpson; two step great-grandchildren, Bradley Holder, Daniel Holder; a very special brother-in-law, Randy Wall who helped care for him during his illness; his mother-in-law, Myrtle Wall of Golden Living; special friends, the Rev. and Mrs. Butch Holder and family and Gerald and Tammy Lambert and Fred and Norma Miller. In addition to his parents, Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by a sister, Annabella Simpson; two brothers, Willie Gray Simpson and an infant brother; his father-in-law, Roy J. Wall, and a very special friend, Marvin Spicer. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Monday June 29, 2015 at Liberty Baptist Church by the Rev. Butch Holder and the Rev. Fred Miller and the Rev. Steve Johnson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Home where his body will remain until time to be carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200 Mount Airy, NC 27030.
