Mr. Howard Thomas Key

Mr. Howard Thomas Key, 70, of Mt. Airy passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. He was born in Surry County on August 30, 1943 to the late James Monroe and Mary Rosie Donathan Key. Mr. Key was a retired roofer and was a member of Closer Walk Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Key Matthews and Hannah Nicole Key both of Mt. Airy; two sons, Reginald Thomas Bowman of Mt. Airy, Thomas James Key of Mocksville; two grandchildren, Ashley Elizabeth Bowman of Mt. Airy, Megan Alexandria Bowman of Wilmington; sister and brother-in-law, Bessie Mae Key and Claude McCormick of Dobson; sisters-in-law, Susie Key Whitaker of High Point, Melba Key of Trinity, Shirley Key of High Point; a special nephew, Rodney Ayers of Mt. Airy; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Key was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Louise Bowman Key; a granddaughter, Heather Nicole Bowman; a sister, Mary Key; five brothers, Gurney, Edgar, Johnny, Esker, and Lester Key. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
