Mr. Jack Lewis Simmons

Mr. Jack Lewis Simmons, 93, of Pilot Mountain passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 23, 2014. Mr. Simmons bravely served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Simmons Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Simmons was the devoted husband of Juanita Chilton Simmons for 67 years. He was a hard working farmer and carpenter, always putting the welfare of his wife and family before his own. Mr. Simmons never met a stranger and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. In addition to his wife, Mr. Simmons is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Bobby Fagg and Linda and George Witt; a son and daughter-in-law, Ted L. and Patty Simmons; grandchildren, Robert and Elizabeth Morris, Lisa and Joe Jessup, Lori and Luke Coe, Kristy and Josh Coe, Neil and Krystal Simmons, Bridget and Dale Keener, April Simmons and Chance Witt; and sixteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday at Simmons Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Wallace, Rev. Alan Branch and Rev. Jimmy Cain officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military rites conducted by VFW Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 2:30 until the time of the service. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all the health care givers and the hospice staff for the wonderful care given to Mr. Simmons during his illness; they were truly "angels".
