Mr. Jackie Rudolph Hawks

Mr. Jackie Rudolph Hawks, age 72 of Cana passed away at his home Tuesday, January 7, 2014. He was born in Carroll County, VA on February 8, 1941 to the late Cleaver Clifton and Emaline Ward Tate Hawks. Mr. Hawks retired from the U.S. Postal service and was a dedicated member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. He was a man of integrity, a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Mr. Hawks is survived by his wife of 52 years, Juanita H. Hawks of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Janie and James Dutton, Sr. of Cary, NC; a son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan C. and Teresa R. Hawks of Fancy Gap; grandchildren, James W. Dutton, Jr., Jennifer Leigh Dutton, Isaac John Hawks and Lucas Daniel Hawks; sister and brothers-in-law, Joanne and Dan Inman of Sanford, NC and Jim Thomas of Cana; brother and sisters-in-law, Everett L. and Cora E. Hawks, and Ollie Hawks all of Cana; and two nephews, Carl Hawks and Bruce Thomas. In addition to his parents was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Orene Hawks and Frankie H. Thomas; two brothers, Burley Odell Hawks and Junior Hawks; a niece, Linda K. Edwards. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Oak Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. David Sechrist officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy where the body will remain until the time to be taken to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service.
