Mr. James Andrew "Jim" Chappell

Mr. James Andrew Chappell, 77, of Mt. Airy passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born in Carroll County on August 2, 1937 to the late Andrew Alexander and Nancy Lou Tate Chappell. Mr. Chappell was a retired brick mason and was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Eric Combs, Liz and Rev. Mark Freeman all of Mt. Airy; grandchildren and spouses, Justin and Jennifer Freeman, Jessica and Aric Norby; step grandchildren, Dusty and Jennifer Combs, David Combs; great grandchildren, Addison Freeman, Eric Wayne Combs; a sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Junior Gwyn of Las Vegas, NV; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Chappell was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona Faye Chappell; sisters, Esterlene Arrington, Ruth Welch, Marie Gwyn, Flora Holder, Alma Sechrist, and Gladys Starling; brothers, Bill Chappell, Roscoe Gwyn, and two infant siblings. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplin Jerry Keegan, the Rev. Mark Freeman and the Rev. Lewis Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:30 PM until time for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
