Mr. James Clarence "J.C." Coe, age 70 of Mt. Airy, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center after a courageous and dignified battle with cancer since 2003. Mr. Coe was born in Surry County on September 5, 1941 to Ila Tate Coe and the late Ralph Henry Coe. He was a simple and honest man who will be greatly missed by his family and the many people he came in contact with over the years. He was a beloved husband, father and papa. He retired from Patterson Collision Center in 1999. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Hutson Coe of the home; daughters, Teresa "Gail" Rigney and husband David, Detra Edwards and fiancé Jason Bauguess all of Mt. Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, James "Pete" and Melissa Coe of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, Tiffany Burnett and Fiancé Jeff Johnson , Cody and Jodi Oakley, Justin McGee, Josh and Brindi McGee, Daniel Rigney all of Mt. Airy, Angela and Chris Lindahl, Kelsea Coe all of FL; great grandchildren, T.J., Emma, Weston Burnett, Charlie and Luke Oakley all of Mt. Airy, Tanner Coe of FL; sisters and brothers-in-law; Alma and Gray Bingman, Pat and Ronnie Hylton all of Mt. Airy; Doris Hayes of FL; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Charlene Coe, Ralph and Dot Coe, Tony Coe all of Mt. Airy; several nieces and nephews; a special aunt, Willie Tate of Mt. Airy. In addition to his father, Mr. Coe was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Gilley. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Larry Johnson. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to give their deep appreciation to Mountian Valley Hospice, doctors and nurses in the emergency room at Forsyth Medical Center, the Palliative Care nurses at Forsyth, Dr. Hines and staff.
