Mr. James Irvin Greenwood, age 94 of Stuart, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012 at his home. He was born in Patrick County on November 10, 1917 to the late R.H. and Minnie Mabe Greenwood. In addition to his parents, Mr. Greenwood was preceded in death by his wife, Ina Cruise Greenwood; one great-grandson, Justin Holt; two brothers, Joe Greenwood and Sam C. "Cleve" Greenwood; and two sisters, Elsie Biggs and Pauline Stove. He was a member of Critz Baptist Church, had served in the United States Army during World War II, and had retired from Stanley Furniture Industry.
Mr. Greenwood is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Charles Rakes, Kathy and Leon Light, Judy Holt and Lewis Bowman, and Patricia and Larry Jones, all of Stuart; one son and daughter-in-law, Henry Lee and Lisa Greenwood of Claudville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Greenwood will be held Sunday, July 15, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Billy Dixon and Rev. Mark Hackler officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home, and at other times at the home of his daughter, Kathy Light.
