Mr. James Everett "Jimmie" Hall, Sr

Mr. James Everett "Jimmie" Hall, Sr., age 89 of Stuart, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the Landmark Center in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on January 22, 1925. He was the son of the late S.J. and Lucy Gunter Hall, and was raised by his grandmother, the late Lillian Pace Gunter, after his mother passed away when he was two years old. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his wife, Magdalene "Pat" Moore Hall. He retired as Vice-President of Patrick County Bank (now SunTrust Bank) in June, 1989 with 30 years of service. He was a member of Stuart Baptist Church for 60+ years where he served as Deacon, Chairman of the Deacons, church Treasurer, and member of the Men's Bible Class. In May, 2010, he was honored to be named Deacon Emeritus of the church. He was a charter member and past President of the Patrick County Jaycees with 10 years of service. He was a member of the Board of Directors for the R.J. Reynolds Patrick County Hospital for 20 years. Additionally, he was a member and past President of the Stuart Lions Club where he received a Certificate of Membership for 50 years of service from Lions Club International. The Lions Club International Foundation recognized him as a Melvin Jones Fellow for Dedicated Humanitarian Services. Mr. Hall felt very humble and blessed to be able to be a part of these honorable organizations throughout his life.
Mr. Hall is survived by two sons, Jim Hall of Rocky Mount and Jerry Hall of Stuart, as well as several cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Stuart Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Belcher and Rev. Dr. Clint Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Duke Cancer Institute, 710 West Main Street, Suite 200, Durham, North Carolina 27701 to support the research of Dr. Dan George, or to Stuart Baptist Church, P.O.
